Wonder of wonder. Joe is reading. He’s deployed at the moment, and boredom may have something to do with it, but I suspect that the biggest difference is that he bought a Kindle! Once again, electronic devices have won out with him. Have any of you tried a Kindle with your ADHD child?

I bought a Kindle for my ADHD daughter who has to complete AR (accelerated reader) points every 9 weeks. She has not been able to complete all the points needed since 5th grade. I researched doing an audiobook club. I decided on the Kindle because it has the Text to Speech feature. I bought the Kindle back on October. It arrived on a Friday. She used it to read a book she had started it, had finished it by that Sunday evening and took and passed her AR on Monday! She has the actual book in her hand reading and listens to the Text to speech from the Kindle. Unbelievable!
Kristi,
Thanks so much for letting us in on your experiences. And congratulations to your daughter on her success! I know you are relieved and gratified.
BTW, I referenced your comment in the latest “An Ounce of Ketchup” newsletter. Very helpful to others.
